Contributing

Who
Anyone 18 or older. No DevFest pass needed. Up to 5 images per person in a round.
About Coimbatore
The city or the district: a place, a neighbourhood, food, the mills, the hills, a festival, everyday life. We should be able to tell from the image and its title.
Made with Nano Banana
Any version, in the Gemini app, AI Studio, the API or Flow. Cropping and colour work elsewhere is fine; generating or repainting parts with another AI model is not.
Any style
Watercolour, Kalamkari, kolam line art, pixel art, posters and more. Not “in the style of” a named living artist or studio.
Described
A title, alt text that says what is in the image, the prompt, the Nano Banana model and the app you used it in, a style and a subject.
File
PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 5 MB, at least 1080 px on the short side, shaped 1:1, 4:5, 3:2, 16:9 or 9:16. No added text, watermarks, signatures, QR codes or links. For print, 2048 px or more on the short side is best: export at 2K or 4K as a JPEG to stay under 5 MB.

What’s not allowed

An organizer checks every image, its title and its prompt before it goes into the library. Anyone can download what’s published, so when we’re unsure, the image stays out.

No sexual content

Nudity, sexualised poses or clothing, innuendo, including “artistic” nudes.

No violence or harm

Gore, injury, weapons shown as glorious, self-harm, accidents or disasters shown for shock.

No hate or mockery

Anything demeaning a religion, caste, community, language, gender, region, disability or body; stereotypes and caricatures of people.

No communal or political content

Party symbols, campaign imagery, politicians, slogans. Temples, mosques and churches can appear as places, shown with respect; deities, rituals and beliefs are never mocked.

No real people

No identifiable person, private or public, including film stars and politicians. Crowds are fine when no one can be recognised.

No brands or characters

Logos, shop signs with real brand names, trademarks, film, cartoon or game characters, and Google, GDG or DevFest marks.

No deception

Fake news photos, invented “historical” photos, real events such as floods, protests or accidents staged as if they happened.

No promotion

Alcohol, tobacco, drugs or gambling as the subject; advertising.

No borrowed work

Someone else’s artwork or photo used as a reference without permission; “in the style of” a named living artist or studio.

People and neighbourhoods are shown with dignity: an image that exoticises or mocks how people live is turned away even if it breaks no single rule. Google’s Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy applies too. Every published image has a Report link; a reported image comes down at once while we look. Anyone who deliberately submits explicit or hateful work loses all their images and can’t contribute again.

Licence and credit

  • Every image is released under CC0 1.0: anyone can use, adapt or sell it without asking.
  • Credit is requested, not required: “Name / Nano Banana Art Gallery, DevFest Coimbatore”.
  • A selection is printed and hung as a gallery at DevFest, each labelled with its title, your credit, the prompt, and the model and app you used.
  • You can withdraw an image at any time, but copies people have already downloaded stay theirs to use. That can’t be undone.
  • Every image is labelled AI-generated, and files keep their SynthID watermark. Images of real places are interpretations, not records.
